This event "NewSpace in Asia Pacific Climate Change Actions," comprised three integral elements aimed at fostering discussion, collaboration, and creative expression:


1. Panel Discussion:

  • Topic: "NewSpace in Asia Pacific Climate Change Actions"

  • Description: The panel discussion featured three experts from diverse backgrounds including space law, space policy, and business. The esteemed panelists were:

    • Narayan Prasad, COO of satsearch.co, renowned space policy expert from India.

    • Devleena Bhattacharjee, Founder and CEO of Numer8 Analytics, specializing in geo-data science.

    • David LX Ho, Co-founder of Malaysia Space Initiative, an expert in space law.

  • Discussion: The panelists offered insights from their respective fields, addressing the intersection of NewSpace initiatives and climate change actions in the Asia Pacific region.


2. Cosmic Sandbox - Multidisciplinary Design Thinking Workshop:

  • Date: November 27, 2022

  • Duration: 4 hours

  • Challenge Theme: "NewSpace in Asia Pacific Climate Change Actions"

  • Description: The Cosmic Sandbox workshop provided participants with a platform for collaborative problem-solving and ideation. Activities included:

    • Briefing session on the challenge theme.

    • Ice-breaking activities to foster creativity and teamwork.

    • Series of brainstorming sessions guided by questions aimed at empathizing with affected communities, identifying commonalities and differences, and translating insights into actionable solutions.

3. Media Contest:

  • Submission Period: November 6-27, 2022

  • Goal: To illustrate the unique needs, challenges, and capabilities of communities in the Asia Pacific Oceania region in response to climate change.

  • Formats: Submissions accepted in various formats including poems, digital artworks, paintings, comics, photos, reels, memes, etc.

  • Audience: Submissions encouraged from students and individuals regardless of professional background or experience in the space field.


Participants had the option to register for individual elements or the entire event according to their interests and preferences.


This past event provided a platform for engaging discussions, collaborative problem-solving, and creative expression, contributing to the exploration of NewSpace initiatives in addressing climate change challenges in the Asia Pacific region.
